The Finnish Society for the Study of Ethnic Relations and International Migration (ETMU) has announced a call for travel grant applications to support the participation of PhD researchers in international research conferences. Applications should be submitted by the end of September.

The ETMU Board founded the Annika Forsander Memorial Fund in May 2018. It was an initiative of persons close to Annika, who want her to be commemorated by supporting young scholars. During her career, Doctor of Social Sciences Annika Forsander held a number of positions, including Head of Development at the Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

Call for applications restricted to members of ETMU

The purpose of the Annika Forsander Memorial Fund is to support the participation of PhD researchers in international research conferences. The applicants must be members of ETMU, and their research topic must be related to the field that ETMU represents, i.e., the study of ethnic relations and international migration.

The deadline for applications is 30 September 2018. The applicants will be notified of the grant decisions by 20 October 2018. Awarded grants must be used between 1 November 2018 and 31 October 2019.

ETMU will award 1–2 travel grants, depending on the size of the awards. A single award cannot exceed EUR 1,000.
