Welcome to Finland guide provides information on Finnish society

Under the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration (section 7, 1386/2010), immigrants must be provided with information about the Finnish society. Welcome to Finland is an information package pursuant to what is prescribed in this act.

The guide is only available through official distributors listed in the Act. These include local register offices, the Finnish Immigration Service and Finland’s embassies abroad. People moving to Finland can get the guide when they are granted a residence permit, register their right of residence, receive a residence card or register at their local register office and in the Population Information System.

The material for the guide and its language versions have been taken from the InfoFinland website. The authorities with integration responsibilities each update the InfoFinland material together with the editors of InfoFinland. The Centre of Excellence in Immigrant Integration at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is responsible for coordinating the updating and distribution of the guide.

You can also read the guide on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment website www.tem.fi/tervetuloa-suomeen. The guide is available in Finnish, Swedish, English, Russian, Estonian, French, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese, Arabic, Persian and Somali.

Welcome to Finland leaflet printed in all languages

The Welcome to Finland material has also been published in a leaflet. The leaflet has been printed in all the guide’s languages as well as in Thai. The purpose of the leaflet is to give summarised information on the topic areas covered in the guide and to encourage people to read the guide online on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment website.

All actors engaged in immigration and integration work, can order the Welcome to Finland card

Other stakeholders, including other authorities as well as actors engaged in immigration and integration work, may order free of charge fliers the size of postcards that they can hand out to their customers. These fliers direct the customers to the online version of the guide on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment website.
