Welcome to Finland guide provides information about Finnish society

The Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration (1386/2010, section 7) requires that immigrants be informed about Finnish society. Welcome to Finland is an information package referred to in this Act.

It is only available from statutory bodies, i.e. the Digital and Population Data Services Agency, the Finnish Immigration Service, and Finnish embassies abroad. People moving to Finland will receive the guide when they are granted a residence permit, register their right of residence, receive a residence card, or register their municipality of residence or other details in the Population Information System.

The material for Welcome to Finland and its language versions are based on the InfoFinland website. The authorities with integration responsibilities each update the InfoFinland material together with the editors of InfoFinland. The Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment co-ordinates the updating and distribution of the guide.

The guide is also available on the website of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment www.tem.fi/tervetuloa-suomeen. The guide is available online in Finnish, Swedish, English, Russian, Estonian, French, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese, Arabic, Persian and Somali. A printed guide is available in Finnish, Swedish, English and Russian. Other language versions can be read online.

Welcome to Finland brochure printed in 13 languages

Welcome to Finland material includes a print brochure in all the languages of the guide and in Thai. The purpose of the brochure is to provide an overview of the guide’s topics and to direct readers to access the online guide on the website of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

All immigration and integration organisations can order the Welcome to Finland card

Other organisations, such as authorities and those working with immigration and integration, can order a postcard for their customers prompting them to read the guide online on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment's website. The postcards are available for order free of charge.
